A weird month.

Alex Grey 1953-

This month has been pretty weird. Im ready for Art class to continue as normal! Anyways, over the last few weeks of browsing the interwebs, I have found interesting art that I would like to share. We shall start off with the art of Alex Grey.

Alex Grey is an American artist specializing in spiritual and psychedelic art, also knows as visionary art, that sometimes is associated with the New Age movement. His work includes performance art, process art, installation art, sculpture, visionary art and painting.

Grey’s paintings can be described as a blend of sacred, visionary art and postmodern art. He is best known for his paintings of glowing anatomical human bodies, images that “x-ray” the multiple layers of reality. His art is a complex integration of body, mind, soul, and spirit.

Ok enough of the Alex Grey copypasta basics! I find his work to be breathtaking. I am a fan of visualizers on the computer and this has the same feel. Very geometric and spiritual, which I enjoy immensly. Ive mentioned that I am a fan of art that has spiritual undertones, so Alex Grey's work is right up my alley.

All Is Vanity - C. Allen Gilbert
This drawing is titled "All Is Vanity", by Charles Allan Gilbert. It is considered to be a memento mori, which is latin for "remember your mortality". I just find this drawing to be very interesting and very thought provoking. I was one night just browsing away on the interwebs, where I stumbled onto "vanity" on wikipedia, where I found this image. I dont know what it was I was looking for, but this stuck out and thought I should share with everyone. Enjoy!
